The flexible and cost-effective weft-only solution to meet M1
The new Protex-Z fibre from Kaneka demonstrates unique FR properties. As a modacrylic it has an unprecedented LOI of 38. Its charrability and subsequent inherent strength means that not only does it pass the rigorous M1 standard when used as a weft-only solution with a cellulosic warp, but also B1, C1 and relevant BS standards. The fact that it can be combined with natural fibres such as cotton means that fabrics retain a natural look and feel. Laundering is no problem either (subject to individual fabric care instructions), so soft furnishings containing Protex-Z remain bright and fresh, with no loss of FR performance.
